Root passwords

I know this thread is quite dead, but I've found that using a PalmPilot
app called "Strip" (a name even Doug will like :) to manage my passwords
has been the best way to remember the un-remeberable. The app even has a
"Generate-some-completely-crazy-string-of-random-characers-that-no-human-
on-earth-will-guess" button. Of course this system requires you to have
your palm with you always (does anyone not have their palm with them? :)

The app is password protected itself, and it encrpyts the data.
Thanks.
