DVD/CD-RW combo drives in Linux? Time for DVD+RW?

Not really.  You just need to emulate SCSI for now.  Most drives are 
supported, and I haven't ran across a drive that isn't supported by cdrecord.  
The 2.6 kernel will make all this easier, as you will no longer need to 
emulate SCSI for your burning needs.  cdrecord will take sane arguments like 
dev=/dev/hdc and burn straight to the IDE interface.  It's faster, and 
handles the system better when background stuff is going on.  I get a warm 
and fuzzy feeling just thinking about it (;
