tunneling X (revisited)

Since I don't know where the archives are located, and
I have studiously (and stupidly) erased my old linuxug
messages, I will ask this question, and you can all
point me to the archives:

I am trying to write a perl application that, among
other things, opens a web-page. Up to this point I
have been using lynx, because it is fast, and easy to
use, but I was thinking about using netscape instead.
The question I have is this:

what do I need to do between my (Winblows 2000 pro)
machine with puTTY and the server machine to get
tunneling to work. As of right now, when I try to
start a tunneling session, I get:

X connection to alder:11.0 broken (explicit kill or
server shutdown).

my display is set to:
$ echo $DISPLAY
alder:11.0

Thanks..

Matthew
