Install fest -- why?

I think that there are a substantial number of people who have an interest
in Linux (at least enough to sign up for this list) but they're not brave
enough to take that first (fairly big) step of installing. That was me
for a while. I was on this list for a few months before I finally got up
the courage to do an install. Sure, once you've done it a few times, you
realize that it's not that big a deal, but the first time, it's nice to
have a mentor next to you for when things don't go exactly how the HOWTO
says they should.
