Right, but "at least" and "may" (in their words) aren't terms that are
conducive to IT policymaking in the enterprise.
It's probably not earthshaking, since most of the market they're after is
probably already paying for support or is willing to. And I certainly do
not wish to appear critical ... they are, after all, trying to make a
profit. But this will turn smart, but less-well-heeled, organizations
(public access nets, some .edus) away from them, and that's unfortunate.
Hopefully, most of those affected already know they have lots of options.
It's been both exciting and disappointing to watch Red Hat grow. They're a
good company, but their resources are limited, and they've made some bold
choices. I hope this works for them.
As for me, what a great excuse to try Gentoo. :-)
