Still accepting applications!

During Winter Quarter 2006 the UW Latin American Studies Program and CHID
will offer an exciting study abroad program in sunny Costa Rica. This
quarter-long program in Costa Rica is open to students from all areas of
study, and offers the chance to earn 15 UW credits toward UW degree
requirements while improving language skills, living with local families,
volunteering/interning, traveling, and getting first-hand experience in
one of the hemisphere's most important geographic, demographic and
political crossroads. The program includes 2 courses and a 3rd option of
intensive, small-group language study, independent study, or an internship
with a local organization. The courses can fulfill a range of major
requirements and focus on History, Development and Spanish language). All
students participate in a 1-credit ungraded seminar in Fall to learn about
Costa Rica and prepare for the study abroad experience prior to departure.
Students maintain UW residency and any financial aid eligibility already
established. Credits earned are recorded on students' UW transcripts and
apply directly to UW graduation requirements. Housing, food, tuition and
extensive in-country excursions for students are all included in the
estimated $3700 program fee.
