CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: HONORS RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM

Dear Honors students:

This year, the Honors Student Advisory Panel hosts its Fourth Annual Honors
Research Colloquium, and enthusiastically invites you to participate! This
event is designed to give College and Departmental Honors students a chance
to connect with one another and share the research that they are working on as
part of their Honors requirements with their peers, underclassmen, family
members, and future Honors students. It provides an informal environment
where students may practice presenting to a general academic audience outside of
their field.  It provides an especially valuable opportunity for those
students planning to present at this year's Undergraduate Research Symposium to get
some practice beforehand in a small, friendly setting. For younger Honors
students, this Research Colloquium provides an opportunity to learn about
whattypes of research projects and coursework their peers become involved with
asthey begin to fulfill Honors requirements in their specific departments.

At the Honors Research Colloquium, students may present a poster or give an
oral presentation. Oral presentations are approximately 10 minutes, with
about five minutes following for questions.  We hope that all presenters and
attendees will find this event to be a useful resource and a great medium
through which to exchange ideas.  Snacks will be provided for presenters and
attendees.

If you are finished with or approaching the conclusion of a research project
(involving your Departmental Honors requirements or otherwise), we would
really value your participation in the Colloquium. It is scheduled for 6-8pm on
Thursday, May 3 in the Honors Lounge and Honors Seminar Room in Mary Gates
Hall. We are interested in applications from students in all disciplines,
from both the College Honors and Departmental Honors segments of the program.

Please include the following information with your application: 1) Name,
major, year at the UW 2) Project Title 3) A brief, no-jargon description of your
project (max 300 words) 4) Whether you wish to present a poster or give an
oral presentation

Applications are due at 5:00 pm on April 13, 2007. You may submit your
application by email at hsap at u.washington.edu or in person at the Honors
Office, 211 Mary Gates Hall. Please contact us if you have any questions.
