[Mathmajors] Spring Quarter Events!

Hello!

Below is an outline proving the Riemann hypothesis and Goldbach's conjecture. Actually, just kidding, it is merely an outline of our events for Spring Quarter. But it is an exciting outline. Come out of your basements, offices, classrooms, and play.

(1) MOVIE NIGHT
April 24th (FRIDAY!)
Thompson Hall Room 325
5:30-7:30pm
Come watch cute FBI agents use math to solve crimes on the TV show Numb3rs.
There will be free pizza (hear that, graduate students?)

(2) Riddle Night Competition
May 1st
5:30-7:30
Free food and mathematical riddles in competition. In addition to smug self-satisfaction, there will be a material PRIZE for the winner.

(3) Free Bowling at the HUB
May 15th (Tentative Date, Might Change, Will Update)
Free bowling and food. Come hang out, bring your friends.

(4) Departmental Dinner
May 29th
Our last departmental dinner for this quarter. Come have a casual dinner with other people in the UW Math Department.

(5) We are also planning TWO pizza/lectures this quarter. Undergraduates will present their research/interests in math and there will be free food.

(6) Elections for the 2009-2010 Academic Year
Around Week 9

Officer Positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster

Although responsibilites are flexible, here is a summary of each office:

President
-preferably an upperclassman math major
-oversees the club

Vice President
-oversees relations with the math department, the public, the other clubs, and RSO Office

Secretary
-oversees meetings and dates, take notes

Treasurer
-oversees the budget, oversees funding the events, takes care of food and other expenses for the events

Webmaster
-oversees the website, updates the websites, maintains the current member list

Note that while the current president, VP, and secretary are graduating, the current treasurer and webmaster will be running again for their current offices.

Please email mathclub at u.washington.edu if you are interested in running for office. No experience (nor fear) is necessary. Please indicate which position you are interested in, your major, and your year.
