Queen termites

In the autumn of 1997 I saw
a few articles, news releases regarding
Queen termites...

Would anyone have any information
about this.  I believe there was an urgent
need to acquire a queen termite -  it may
have been a joke though so, if it doesn't
jog your memory, let this request pass..

I found one nesting while splitting wood
the other day - its still hibernating (I hope)
