Hello NHC members
I'm a librarian at the San Francisco Chronicle, a member of SLA's News
Division, and I've been asked to find out about the history of natural
science museums.
The reporter here is especially interested in the history of interactive and
"hands-on" exhibits in museums.
The Encyclopedia Britannica indicates that museums started developing
interactive programs and exhibits for the general public after World War II,
but doesn't give any specific examples or dates.
I would like to find out about when and where these programs first appeared
and possibly anything on how they've changed over time.
Please let me know of any sources that would provide this information.
Thanks!
