We have an opening here at Texas A&M University at Galveston for a Public
Services Librarian. We are a 3 professional/5 paraprofessional staff.
Diane (Watson) Verrett has just retired from this position and we would
love to have someone who is savvy to electronic information retrieval come
in to help us out. The position description as posted from the campus Web
site is:
Position: LECTURER - "PUBLIC SERVICES LIBRARIAN"
Lecturer Start date: February 1, 2003
Description: Bibliographic instruction, handling of reference inquiries,
and developing the collection of the Library. Directly oversees
inter-library loan and circulation functions. Develops and maintains
guides to the literature of Marine and Maritime subject areas; online and
in paper copy. Manages resources through the library's Endeavor Voyager
automation system including, but not limited to, the online public access
catalog. Participates in University governance.
Educational Qualifications: REQUIRED: Master's degree in Library Science
from an American Library Association accredited institution.
Qualifications: Must be computer literate. Occasional evening or weekend
work. Typical work week is M-F, 8-5.
Salary: $35,000/annually
