Dear Tom...
We sort of incorporated our original mission statement into our 1991 =
collection policy (you may have been here for that), so hope this helps.

MISSION/OBJECTIVES
HCRL collection development is primarily governed by the association of =
the library with SABG, and therefore reflects the emphasis of SABG on =
plants of Mediterranean climate areas of the world. It is the mission =
and goal of the HCRL to develop and make available collections that =
support the plant collections of SABG, and the goals and educational =
role of the SAS and SABG "in promoting intelligent stewardship of the =
natural world...to interpret the interrelationships of people and plants =
and to advocate the preservation and continued development of Strybing =
Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park." SAS Articles of =
Incorporation mandate development and maintenance of "a library in the =
interest of scientific gardening and of conservation of natural =
resources." The HCRL is mandated to "provide comprehensive =
horticultural reference facilities" under the goal to "match facilities =
and programs to visitor needs which are consistent with the purposes of =
Strybing."

Subject: Help needed...?
Importance: High
Lazy man's request (for a report currently in draft)...
I would like to receive, from natural history institutions (including
museums, gardens, aquaria, zoos, arboreta...)
1) copies of your original "mission statement" -- as perhaps occurring in a
charter or other founding document?
2) copies of your most current mission statement
3) any other formal institutional policies that may relate to dissemination
of scientific information as a part of the institutional mission
Thanks for any assistance...
Tom Moritz
