Dear Colleagues --

It is with genuinely mixed emotions that I announce my departure
from AMNH effective January 18.  I have decided to return to California
to take up a position at the Getty Research Institute in Los
Angeles.(SEE:http://www.getty.edu/research/ )

Effective February 20, I will be Associate Director for Administration of
the Getty Research Institute  and Chief, Knowledge Management. The Getty
will pose a series of new challenges and opportunities and I expect that
there will be frequent opportunities for cross-domain collaborations with
natural history.

Moreover, as agreed with the Getty, I will continue my professional
engagement with environmental conservation (Biodiversity and Protected
Areas) and I certainly hope to continue in active in support of the
Biodiversity Heritage Library initiative as part of the Open Content
Alliance.

My gratitude to all of you for the collegiality and support I have enjoyed
during my 20 years as a natural history librarian...

And you all have an open invitation to visit when in Los Angeles(!).
