Is There a New Global Normal?
November 6, 2009
Seattle University, Casey Building<http://www.seattleu.edu/campus_community/visit_campus/campus_maps/main_campus_map/>
8:30 am - 6 pm
Recent turmoil in financial markets has led many to question traditional wisdom about what economic data really tell us, how markets work, and the viability of a synchronized world economy. And at the same time, marketers wonder if social networking will reshape their world, IT specialists confront new technologies, managers wonder how to motivate diverse workers, and faculty interact with students whose interests and expectations seem to have shifted. These are just some examples of why so many of us are asking: is there a new global normal?
This workshop will illuminate some of the challenges we face in managing organizations and in higher education. We invite you to participate to learn how others perceive "normal" and to consider what a new normal may mean for you. Morning sessions are designed with both practitioners and academics in mind; afternoon sessions are oriented more toward teaching and scholarship issues.
