[Nwfsc] 2 MS or PhD TA positions available, UNLV, Las Vegas

Folks,

This has just popped up as of this week.

Brenda Buck and I have two MS or PhD TA positions available in the new soil
emphasis in the Department of Geoscience,UNLV for Spring 2005.

 <http://geoscience.unlv.edu/> The persons applying must be able to TA a lab
in an Introductory GIS course Spring 2005.

The area of research interest should also be soil related.

Brenda and I have numerous ongoing projects. Students can pick their
project.

Students could move into research positions within a year.

Dollars: The stipend for a MS student is $10,000 plus tuition and fee
waivers and for a PhD student $12,000 plus tuition and fee waivers (see
http://www.unlv.edu/Colleges/Graduate/financing/grad_assist_fin.htm for
details).

Current example projects:
C sequestration
Forest soils
Soil geomorphology
Geoarcheology
Fire related changes in soil
Soil plant development issues
Surficial development of desert soils and their control on soil moisture.
Environmental chemistry
Paleosols/sedimentology
Hydrocollapsible soils
Soil/geomorphic mapping innovations

Students must apply by Nov 5th.
