The South Asian Festival of Lights

All are welcome! Diwali and Tihar, primarily celebrated in India and Nepal, are one of the biggest and most popular Hindu festivals.
Components of our Downtown Bellevue Barnes & Noble Diwali / Tihar Festival, running from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, Oct 30th include:
* Reading / Signing with author Anjali Banerjee: chick lit novel, Imaginary Men and her Young Reader / Teen novels, Rani & the Fashion Divas, The Silver Spell, and Maya Running
* Reading / Signing with author Bharti Kirchner: novels, Pastries and Darjeeling
* Folk Music: Nepal Seattle Society and Leela Kathak Dancers & Singers
* Dance: Indian Association of Western Washington
* Indian Languages Storytime: Uma Coimbature
* Mehndi (henna) for kids & teens: Anju Mohan
* Laxmi (the goddess of wealth, patron deity of Diwali and Tihar) Painting: Parvati Brown
* Rangoli (auspicious drawings at the entrance to a home - or in this case, Barnes & Noble): Amy Terich
* And, of course, Sweets
* Partner organizations: Nepal Seattle Society, Indian Association of Western Washington
Diwali and Tihar honor the goddess of wealth, Laxmi.
