THE PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATICS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM OF THE CENTERS FOR =
DISEASE
CONTROL AND PREVENTION

Are you interested in designing, developing and implementing =
surveillance
systems and disease registries? Is it your desire to have wide-ranging
impact on population health by applying your IT skills and knowledge to
public health problems and challenges? Do you dream about working with =
the
largest health data sets you can ever imagine? Do you fancy traversing =
the
realm of public health and explore how information management can =
support
and enhance practice, research and learning? Are you looking for =
something
different to do for the next 2 years (perhaps for the rest) of your =
life? =20

Then consider applying to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Public
Health Informatics Fellowship Program (PHIFP)!

The CDC offers a two-year post-graduate fellowship in public health
informatics. Public health informatics is the systematic application of
information and computer science and technology to public health =
practice,
research, and learning. Having access to the right information is =
essential
to modern public health practice - whether responding to disasters, =
managing
disease outbreaks, or providing appropriate recommendations to manage a
chronic disease. This highly competitive fellowship program offers an
opportunity for qualified candidates to make significant contributions =
to
the public health infrastructure while engaging with leaders in the =
field.
Fellows receive training in both informatics and public health, are =
assigned
to teams involved in research and development of crucial CDC information
systems, and are given the opportunity to lead one or more major =
projects
during the fellowship period.=20

CDC=92s challenging and intellectually stimulating environment provides
multiple opportunities to enhance skills in research and analytic =
thinking,
written and oral scientific presentations, and preventive medicine and
public health. Fellowship assignments and projects offer opportunities =
that
lead to scientific publications and conference presentations.
