to the University of Illinois School of Public Health. Dataspeak is just the
name for an MCH lecture series available by telephone audio conference call or
internet access for the presentations. To access information and to register for
the March 29th presentation go to the website highlighted in blue below.

Is DataSpeak a chat room or video/satellite presentation? I am not
familiar with the term.

Mortality/Morbidity Reviews - Tools for MCH Programming
March 29, 2000
2:00-3:30 Eastern Time
This DataSpeak program will highlight specific state initiatives that
utilize findings from community and state level mortality reviews to
improve MCH programming (i.e., needs assessment, continuous quality improvement,
capacity building). Presentations by federal MCHB and state health officials
will highlight the benefits of using three types of mortality reviews*Maternal
Mortality Reviews (MMR), Fetal and Infant Mortality Reviews (FIMR), and Child
Fatality Reviews (CFR)*to augment population-based needs assessment data and
guide the state policy development process.
Using Adolescent Health Data to Influence Policy and Programs
May 24, 2000
2:00-3:30 Eastern Time
This program*developed in collaboration with the Association of State and
Territorial Health Officials and the Association of Maternal and Child Health
Programs as part of their broader adolescent health data technical assistance
effort*will discuss states' use of adolescent health data to influence policy
and make informed decisions about programming. Data collection tools and
methods (e.g., the Youth Risk Behavioral Survey and ASSETS) and evaluation and
performance indicators (e.g., Healthy People 2010 adolescent health objectives
and the Title V performance measures) will be discussed in terms of their use in
shaping
the adolescent health agenda.
June 2000
In late June (exact date to be determined), a Dataspeak program will be held on
federal initiatives to promote pediatric oral health and measurement issues
related to this area. More information will be forthcoming.
Register for the March program now at the DataSpeak web site at
