[PHNURSES] APHA Abstract submission deadline fast approaching

Friends:

I took it upon myself to remind you of the APHA call for 
abstracts since the deadline is rapidly approaching. Purely 
selfish on my part since I'm helping out with the Film Festival 
again this year and want to see as many of you there as I can.

Since I could not find my copy of the call from APHA, I went to 
their Web site and copied this text to give you an idea of what 
they want. Their suggestion of getting your abstract pulled 
together ahead of time is a REALLY good one. Then just cut and 
paste into the Confex database. Saves time, yelling and hair 
pulling.

Note that you do not have to present on EBPH but it always helps 
if you can tie what you are doing to the theme.

  The American Public Health Association is now accepting 
contributed abstracts for the 133rd Annual Meeting (November 5-9, 
2005), New Orleans, LA. The theme of the meeting is: Evidence 
Based Policy and Practice.

Abstracts must be limited to 250 words or less. Please develop 
your abstract off-line before accessing the online submission 
form. Use the spell checking and word count features of your word 
processor to check the text of the abstract before submitting it. 
Two-page summaries (if required) must be less than 2000 words. 
Learning objectives must be described. Each contributed paper 
must be categorized under one of the topics or areas of interest 
described in the call for papers. (Most sections/SPIGs/caucuses 
offer a topic selection called "Other"). Deadlines for submitting 
abstracts are listed below. Authors are encouraged to submit 
abstracts on current and emerging public health issues. The 
abstracts being submitted should not be published prior to the 
APHA Annual Meeting (Wednesday, November 9, 2005).

An abstract can only be submitted to ONE Section, SPIG or Caucus. 
You do not need to be an APHA member to submit an abstract, 
however, if your abstract is accepted for presentation you MUST 
become an APHA Individual member and you MUST register for the 
Annual Meeting. Submission of an abstract implies a commitment to 
make the presentation at the annual meeting.

As an organization committed to providing quality continuing 
education (CE) activities to its membership and meeting 
registrants, APHA must adhere to the requirements of various 
accrediting bodies and professional organizations with which it 
collaborates. In the past APHA has made CE units/credits/contact 
hours available in a variety of professional disciplines. Each 
discipline has its own unique requirements of educational 
activities, and the organizations that provide them. Because APHA 
strives to make as many of its educational activities as possible 
eligible for CE, it is essential that the presenters (authors, 
faculty, etc) meet all CE requirements and follow 
discipline-specific regulations.

Note the deadlines in the left column. Don't delay or it will 
take you forever to input your abstract as everyone submits at
