For those who may be interested, there is a conference scheduled in
Washington, D.C. at the Washington Hilton and Towers from October 14-17,
1996 for agencies and organizations providing food and nutrition services to
people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWAs) and their families in the community
setting. The conference is geared toward a variety of health professionals
specifically serving the needs of HIV positive clients, including
nutritionists/dietitians, foodbank managers, chefs, program directors and
executive directors of AIDS service organizations, case managers, food and
supplement suppliers, and funders.
This is the third year that this type of conference has taken place (the
first year was in Atlanta and last year it was held in Los Angeles). The
scheduling of the conference will coincide with the display of the AIDS
Quilt at the Mall which currently includes 45,000 panels (representing only
11% of AIDS-related deaths). When laid out on the Mall, the Quilt covers an
expanse of 27 acres.
