Subject: Nutrition and primary care

Dear Colleagues,

Are you interested in nutrition and primary medical practice? If so, you may
like to know about a new group which is forming to provide a forum for
doctors and dietitians with that interest.

Last December a conference was held in Holland on nutrition in general
medical practice, sponsored by the International Union of Nutritional
Sciences. In attendance were a mixture of doctors, dietitians and some
communications academics who in one way or another had done work in the area
- research, teaching or working with nutrition in primary medical practice
(family medicine etc.)

One of the main conclusions of this workshop group was the value of making
contact with as many people in this field as possible. It seems to be a
relatively new and uncharted subject, with few opportunities for those
working in it to meet with or talk to each other.

Those of us who were at the Dutch conference would therefore like to
establish some kind of communication network, perhaps supported by a
newsletter to help us keep in touch with each other's work. If you have a
particular interest in this area (either in research, teaching or
implementation) we would be delighted to hear from you..

Perhaps in your reply you might include an outline of your background and
what aspects of the subject you have interest or experience in.

Kind regards,

Dr.Tony Helman
