Friends:

CABI is producing a new journal on behalf of the Nutrition Society called
Public Health Nutrition.

Here is a description from the Web page
http://www.cabi.org/catalog/journals/primjour/phn/phn.htm

snip=====

The high profile occupied by issues of public health nutrition in the
media and governments worldwide has highlighted the need for a keenly
focused, well-respected and dedicated forum for the presentation of
original research findings in this field. Current controversies have
drawn attention to the need for such a forum and leading nutrition
scientists at The Nutrition Society have combined with CAB
INTERNATIONAL to seize the initiative and launch Public Health Nutrition.
The first issue is planned for March 1998.

The Journal will offer a population based approach to the practical
application of research findings and will provide a timely vehicle for
lively discussion. In addition it will also include high quality reviews
of key topics and seek to identify and publish special supplements on
major topics of interest.

Public Health Nutrition will develop and maintain an international
perspective, supported by an international editorial team.

Topics covered include:

nutritional epidemiology - studies relating nutrition to health or
disease risk
nutrition related health promotion
evaluation of effectiveness of intervention studies aimed at
improving health
role of nutrition in high risk and vulnerable groups
development of research methods, validation of measures, calibration
population based research related to primary prevention of illness

The Readership

Public Health Nutrition will be essential reading for:

Nutritionists and dietitians involved in nutritional epidemiology
research, primary prevention, public health, and health promotion.

Epidemiologists and health promotion specialists interested in the role of
nutrition in disease prevention.

Academics and those involved in fieldwork and the application of research
to identify practical solutions to important public health
problems.
