Dr. Bobroff:  I have a 16 year old patient who is pregnant and has
alpha-1-antitrypsin-deficiency.  She is loosing weight and has no
tolerance for proteins of any kind.  I believe this is related to her
deficiency rather than the pregnancy as this was a problem for her as
a child.  Her child has a 50-50 chance of having this deficiency as
the father of the baby is a carrier.  Can you give me suggestions for
nutritional support for this patient?
