*************************************************
Drum roll, please. "H.E.R.E. in Washington--the Health Education Resource
Exchange"-- goes online today. The Office of Health Promotion at the
Washington State Department of Health invites you to be a frequent
visitor to this new health promotion clearinghouse.
Hundreds of talented, knowledgeable community health professionals have
contributed to this web site. We wanted you to be among the first to try
it out and let us know what you think.
"H.E.R.E. in Washington" is officially available on the Internet at:
www.HEREinWA.org
This new web site focuses on health education and health promotion
resources. Features include community projects from all over the state, a
searchable "rolodex" of community health professionals, health education
materials from local health jurisdictions, a calendar of training
opportunities and events, a health educator's bookshelf, and links to
other helpful Internet resources.
Over the next few weeks we will continue to add lots of new information
to the interactive databases on the website, so plan to check in
regularly. Plus, we have designed this clearinghouse so it provides
functionality--ways to get things done, not just information. "H.E.R.E.
in Washington" allows you to:
* contact and network with colleagues around the state
* join discussion groups
* plan conference or training attendance
* order educational materials
* go straight to the source of a variety of successful community projects
* print camera-ready documents from the "health educator's toolbox"
* review contents of current journals
* contact professional organizations
* connect to libraries
* select one of many favorite Internet search engines.
Bookmark the address or include it on your list of website favorites. You
can also get to "H.E.R.E. in Washington" through the DOH home page
(www.doh.wa.gov). Just look under "Links" or "What's New" for "H.E.R.E.
in Washington."
Your ideas and suggestions are very important to us. Each section of the
site is set up to encourage comments and feedback. Use the convenient
"Feedback" page (you can reach it from the bottom of any page) for online
messages. Or just click on one of many links to send us e-mail (this
works when your e-mail is through your web browser.) If your e-mail is
separate from your browser, just switch to your e-mail and write us at
HERE at doh.wa.gov.
We are excited about launching this new resource which has been almost 3
years in the making. Our staff will strive to keep it up-to-date and
adapt it to changing needs. We look forward to hearing your comments.
Feel free to forward this message to colleagues.
