Obesity lecture to Health Professionals

I would definitely hit on the growing problem of obesity & early
cardiovascular disease in today's elementary school children. This is where
the intervention needs to be - while they are forming healthy/unhealthy
patterns of eating & physical activity. Also, the correlation between the
increase in body weight of school kids today, since physical education/gym has
been omitted (or greatly reduced) from the actual school curriculum, compared
with the size/health of kids way back in the days that we failed our grade if
we failed gym - regardless of academic grades.

I don't know where you live but if you check out nearby "city" schools, you'd
be amazed at the size of the children. (I did some work in Washington Heights
& Harlem - NYC - about 6 years ago - the average 12 to 14 yo that I worked
with weighed over 200 pounds - God knows what the health status of these kids
will be in 10 years - let alone by the time they reach 50! - the kids down
here in the FL "cities" aren't much better!)

Well, sorry to ramble on but this topics hits home for me!
