I received two more responses to the ketogenic diet question, which I
think are very valuable and ought to be mentioned:

The ketogenic diet is described in Escott-Stump's Nutrition and
Diagnosis-
Related Care (p. 111 in 3rd edition).  For more information:  Contact

Also, there's a description and a very few references of the diet in
Mahan's
Food, Nutrition and Diet Therapy (p. 879 in 9th edition).  It references
the
ADA Diet manual 1992 edition, but I checked my more recent edition and
could
not find it quickly in the index.  Also references Kinsman et al.:
Efficacy
of the ketogenic diet for intractable seizure disorders: Review of 58
cases.
Epilepsia 33:1132; 1992.

There is also a good cookbook for parrents called the Ketogenic cookbook
by
Dennis and Cynthia Brake. Plus there is lots of info including a great
video
from the Charlie Foundation in California I believe.
