Why don't you check out our new www site targeting young teens? To our knowledge, our site may be the sole teen web site focusing on calcium nutrition as it relates to prevention of osteoporosis plus its other many values nutritionally.

We would welcome the nutritionists, dietitians, health educators, NIH, CDC, other Cooperative Extension services, American Dietetic Association, Society for Nutrition Education, American Association of Diabetes Educators, and other sites to add our site as a linkage.

Check out the new site for the Texas Agricultural Service Extension Food/Nutrition Unit, Texas A&M University at:

Attached are 2 different text files to help advertise our site. These provide an overview of the educational information on the site. We would appreciate you forwarding this message to your 4H and Youth Staff or other youth groups.

Dr. Debra Reed and I have collaborated with Dr. Dymple Cooksey, Fred Rodriguez and Diann Mitchell in TAEX Computer Technology, our webmaster Christy Frantz who was a nutrition graduate to prepare this site. We received a special initiatives grant from the Family and Consumer Sciences Program special contracts/grants program under the direction of Dr. Jennie Kitching to prepare this site. Pretesting under the direction of Dr. Debra Reed of the site was done with both junior high aged students and regular high school aged students and their input has been made into our site. Dr. Nancy Dickey, MD on the TX A&M University School of Medicine faculty and now AMA president is featured as an expert in support of teen calcium nutrition in the video at the site.

Dr. Bielamowicz serves on the Osteoporosis Advisory Committee for the TX Dept. of Health additionally. Dr. Steve Petak, our chairperson who is an endocrinologist, was on 2 television programs in Houston on Sat morning 10/31 and announced our site at that time. We will be sending more information about the details of this site in the near future.

We hope you like our research based educational opportunity related to teen calcium nutrition.
