Michelle,
I believe an internship always helps a student's job opportunities
afterwards. It provides the direct experience of working in the field plus
getting the opportunity to work under a mentor, which can be invaluable in
terms of your personal direction and competence. I don't believe you
absolutely have to have an internship to work in Community Nutrition, but
you would be at a disadvantage if you did not.
I do think the most effective community nutritionists are Registered
Dietitians.
