Dear Colleagues,

My apologies for the cross-posting. There are some excellent
additions to the Board since April 8, the last update.

The Board is located at:

http://www.nutritionucanlivewith.com/index.html

Click "Professionals' Bulletin Board" and you'll get a page
of Topic areas. Click on a Topic of interest, then read it, and
add a response if you like; or start a new conversation.

If you have information that could be of general interest,
please consider adding it to the Board -- posting it on the Board
will assure that others can access it later on.

Best regards,
Kathrynne

CLINICAL NUTRITION--INFO,RESOURCES,ISSUES
1) Question: Milk Products and sleep apnea / excess phlegm -- At my
place of practice (long term developmentally disabled), it seems
standard that all persons diagnosed with sleep apnea or have problems
with excess phlegm be placed on a trial diet of no milk or milk
products. Is there any scientific data that supports this?

DIETS / ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES: Looking for an RD-created weight loss
program -- Please let me know if there are any packaged weight loss
programs that I could use at our hospital for out-patients.

Goldbeck has teemed up with Jim Henson song writer to coauthor THE ABC's
of FRUITS AND VEGETABLES (Ceres Press). Part One contains clever poems
about 26 common and uncommon fruits and vegetables. In the second
part, Goldbeck takes readers "beyond the ABCs" with recipes, jokes,
facts, history, geography, web address, approprate books, etc - all to
get kids to have a postive relationship with produce.

2) The Weeknight Survival Cookbook: How to Make Healthy Meals in 10
Minutes: The Weeknight Survival Cookbook lets dinnertime be family time.
Written by Dena Irwin RD, busy working mother of 2 small children. This
great cookbook helps you plan, organize, and create 12 weeks of healthy
and flavorful meals that take only 10 minutes to prepare.

INTERNET RESOURCES
1) National Library of Medicine provides the Medline Plus Medical
Encyclopedia. Includes Topics: Disease, Injury, Nutrition, Poison,

1) Breakfast Cart Meal Service -- I am exploring the concept of a
breakfast cart to increase pt satisfaction in UPMC Shadyside(Pittsburgh)
and was interested in talking with some people who have already
implemented such a meal service. If anyone would be willing to talk
about this, let me know.

2) I was searching for a poster of the new Food Guide Pyramid for Older
Adults. If anyone knows where I can get a poster sized color copy of
this that would be great!
