Assistant Dean, Extension Family and Consumer Sciences and
Outreach-College
of Human Ecology (Tenure-Track Position. Rank dependent on background
and
experience.)

LOCATION
The University of Tennessee, Agricultural Campus, Knoxville, Tennessee

EFFECTIVE DATE
July 1, 2000. Screening of applicants' credentials will begin on March
15,
2000, and will continue until the position is filled.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Dean is responsible to the Dean of the Agricultural
Extension
Service (75%) and the Dean of the College of Human Ecology (25%).
Responsibilities include providing leadership to Extension Family and
Consumer Sciences faculty and programs; working closely with the
department
heads in the College of Human Ecology to develop and implement Extension

and outreach programs; developing and maintaining effective working
relationships with other university departments and organizations;
cooperating with Associate Dean (Agriculture) and State 4-H
Leader in planning, implementing and involving the 4-H phase of the
Extension program; working with Extension administration on matters of
staff development, planning and reporting; providing leadership in
Extension planning and reporting efforts; implementation of Equal
Employment Opportunity program; and assisting the Dean of the
Agricultural
Extension Service in other tasks that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates are expected to have (1) an earned doctorate in Family and
Consumer Sciences or closely allied field of study, (2) work experience
which has demonstrated possession of the abilities and skills necessary
to
successfully perform the duties of this position, (3) demonstrated
leadership and administrative capabilities in each of the duties and
responsibilities, (4) experience in an Agricultural Extension Service
or
Cooperative Extension Service is preferred. Preference will be given to
applicants that have at least one degree in family and consumer
sciences/human ecology.

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
