Minnesota's licensure law provides for Licensed Nutritionists to have a
master's or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with a
major in human nutrition, public health nutrition, clinical nutrition,
nutrition education, community nutrition or food and nutrition and to have
completed 900 hours of documented supervised preprofessional practice
experience in dietetic practice. A second route to this credential is to be
qualified as a diplomate of the American Board of Nutrition, Springfield,
Virginia. There is also a category called Licensed Dietitian for R.D.'s
without an advanced degree.
