Dear Colleague:

As mentioned yesterday, we have developed a new food safety
survey that addresses risk perceptions. It is part of an
FDA-funded project whose goal is to develop strategies for
motivating consumers to practice safe food handling
behaviors.

The survey is located at the following website:

http://www.agnr.umd.edu/food

We would appreciate it if you would please take the survey
during the next few weeks. It should take you no longer
than 15-20 minutes to complete.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

- We are interested in getting the opinion of as many food
science and nutrition professionals as possible, so please
feel free to forward this message to others who might have
an interest in this project.

- Anyone involved with food science, food safety, or
nutrition as part of their jobs or studies is eligible to
take the survey. However, during this phase of the project
we are NOT targeting consumers or the general public (a
different questionnaire will be given to consumers at a
later date).

- Graduate students (but not undergrads) in nutrition,
dietetics, food science, and related disciplines ARE
welcome to take the survey at this time.

- This announcement is going out to 5 listservs (Foodsafe,
Public Health Nutrition, Food and Nutrition Specialists,
IFT Communicators, and SNE). However, feel free to post
this message on other professional food or nutrition
listservs.

- Although the survey is geared toward the United States,
professionals in other countries are welcome to take it.

- The survey results will be made available to all listserv
subscribers.

Many thanks in advance for your participation, and
apologies again for the cross-postings.

Sincerely,

Mark A. Kantor, Ph.D.
