Two new education resources on the management of food allergy and
intolerance are available. The author, Janice Joneja, PhD, RDN is head of
the Allergy Nutrition Clinic at Vancouver Hospital & Health Sciences
Centre, a major referral, teaching and research center located in
Vancouver, BC. Dr. Joneja is an adjunct professor in the School of Family
and Nutritional Sciences at the University of British Columbia. The
ADA recently asked Dr. Jonej contribute a major portion of her work for
inclusion in their new diet manual.

FOOD ALLERGY & INTOLERANCE: MECHANISMS AND MANAGEMENT by Janice Joneja
(ISBN 0-9682098-4-X) is considered a milestone in dietetic education. It
is a multi-media presentation covering all aspects of food allergies and
intolerance from system theory to dietary intervention for specific
populations. Conceived as a university gradualte level course, this

BABIES, CHILDREN & FOOD ALLERGY by Janice Joneja (ISBN 0-9682098-3-1) is
a multi-functional education resource. Designed in consultation with
community dietitians and nurses, this resource contains clinically proven
strategies to identify, prevent, and manage food allergies in children
from birth to five years. Included are:

Two audio tapes ( 142 minutes total) and companion guide books (57 pages
total) cover all aspects of pediatric food allergy. It of particular
interest to dietitians who require an in-depth knowledge of the topic.

A 90 minute video titled BABIES, CHILDREN & FOOD ALLERGIES: PUTTING
KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICE is designed as a teaching tool for dietitians and
nurses who work with mothers in the community. It includes practical
approaches and strategies to identify, prevent and manage food allergy
during pregnancy, at birth, and following birth to two years. Dietitians
use this to teach nurses. It is also applicable for use in prenatal
classes.
