and Consumer Science Advisor position open in one of the most attractive

Nutrition, Family & Consumer Science Advisor
San Diego County, CA

The Univ. of California is seeking a career track academic candidate to
address the Cooperative Ext. research and educational program priorities of
consumers/families in San Diego County. Improve specific practices related
to their nutrition, health, and food safety practices. Develop/disseminate
info useful to consumers, agencies/organizations. Develop programs in the
utilization of community resources, consumer and family resource mgmt.,
economic stability and security, and understanding of the consumer
agriculture connection. Responsibility for the Expanded Food and Nutrition
Educ. Program for youth and adults, and the Food Stamp Nutrition Educ.
Program. Provide local leadership and knowledge in nutrition, food safety
and consumer issues. Enlist skills of county-based advisors, campus
specialists and faculty at the local/national level, and provide info to
all clientele. Maintain close liaison with local, state, and fed'l
agencies and organizations dealing with program issues.

Requirements: Minimum of a Master's Degree in Nutrition, Food Safety, or
Home Ec with coursework in nutrition. Ability to work independently and as
a team member; ability to relate research-based info to the public and
conduct issue-focused research, and to teach effectively. Interpersonal
skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships with
clientele, public agencies, and academic colleagues. Experience in
community assessment and program design is desirable. Computer skills
