Sharon,
Sounds like good advice. I think I'd enjoy Arizona and I welcome the thought
of living in a rural area.
Thanks again and Best Wishes,
Romayne

Good suggestions (State Nutrition Directors & WIC Directors). Jobs in
Arizona State Service are listed on-line and applications are done via a
scannable resume system. The web-site is:
http://www.hr.state.az.us/employment/index.html. Jobs for dietitians
may be found in several departments - Health Services, Education,
Economic Security, Corrections, etc. Others, such as AHCCCS (state
Medicaid program) may not list jobs specifically for dietitians but would
have positions that R.D.'s would be well equipped to fill.
Arizona is great place to live with lots of opportunities especially for
bi-lingual dietitians and individuals wanting to live in rural areas.

If you are interested in public health nutrition positions I recommend
contacting the state nutrition directors and state WIC directors. Contact
information is usually on the state health department web site. As a state
nutrition program director I did receive and answer inquiries about jobs.
I have recently seen ads in JADA or Jobs in Dietetics for positions in AZ.
Of course Jobs in Dietetics has a CA edition.

Subject: Jobs for Dietitians in Sun-Belt States?
Dear PHNUTR Friends,
I am a senior dietetic student currently living on the East Coast. I plan
to
graduate this June. I really want to move out to where the weather is
warm
year-round, such as in California, New Mexico, Arizona, etc.
I'm not sure what the market is like in the sun-belt in terms of employment
for dietitians. Does anyone have a clue about how I should go about my
job
search?
I'd appreciate any insights you can offer.
Romayne
Senior Dietetic Student
