Friends:

I thought this was an interesting question received from another list.
There's no requirement for you to respond to Dr. Shackman unless you're
very interested in the topic.

There are a couple of references, too.

Subject: research on significant other

Hi,

We are looking for reviews of research on the effect that significant
others might have on behaviors, specifically on nutritional and related
behaviors. So far, I found a couple of useful articles in Annual Reviews
of Nutrition.

PSYCHOSOCIAL CORRELATES OF DIETARY INTAKE: Advancing Dietary Intervention
Tom Baranowski, Karen Weber Cullen, and Janice Baranowski, Annu. Rev.
Nutr. 1999. 19:17-40.
http://nutr.annualreviews.org/cgi/content/full/19/1/17

THE BEHAVIORAL DETERMINANTS OF EXERCISE: Implications for Physical Activity
Interventions
Nancy E. Sherwood and Robert W. Jeffery, Annu. Rev. Nutr. 2000. 20:21-44.
http://nutr.annualreviews.org/cgi/content/full/20/1/21

Anyone know of any other recent reviews of literature about possible
effects of significant others (parents, spouses, family, friends, etc) on
nutritional behavior? Or are there other recent literature reviews of
effects of significant others on health behavior or on behavior in general?

Reviews that are available on the web are nice, as they are easy to access,
but printed are also welcome.

Thanks in advance
