Friends:
Here's a better URL for the email I sent out a few days ago on this topic.
Thank you to Sarah Keuster, CDC, for passing this information along. I
know some of you must have been frustrated when the link didn't work. This
happens sometimes. I think there must be a gremlin out there that nips
bits off URLs when they get transmitted over the phone lines.

Hi Laura:
I tried the 2-line website in your message and got an error message.
Another route to the same announcement is at
http://www.cdc.gov/od/pgo/funding/02003.htm. Please confirm that this new
link goes to your same announcment. If so, you might want to resend your
message with this new link.
If you are going to the NCCDPHP chronic disease conference please let me
know. Maybe we can finally meet!
Sarah

letter of intent deadline, 4/30 application deadline
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to report that the CDC Office of Extramural Prevention
Research in the Public Health Practice Program Office has announced
funding for community-based prevention research. Specifically, this
announcement seeks "to support multi-disciplinary, multi-level,
participatory research that will enhance the capacity of communities and
population groups to address health promotion and the prevention of
disease, disability and injury."
Approximately $13,000,000 is available in FY 2002 to fund approximately
30 awards. It is expected that the average award will be $450,000,
ranging from $400,000 to $500,000. It is expected that the awards will
begin on or about September 30, 2002, and will be made for a 12-month
budget period within a project period of up to three years. Funding
estimates may change.
Deadline for letters of intent: March 20, 2002
Deadline for applications: April 30, 2002
