Friends:
For about 10 years the NWCPHP, now the Northwest Institute for Public
Health Practice has offered a Summer Institute. This year the Institute
will take place Sept. 9-13.
This year's week-long program will be integrated via case studies around a
central theme of bioterrorism (BT) preparedness and response, but much of
the training will remain generally applicable to public health practice.
The three core themes will be: Epi Methods, GIS (geographic information
systems) and Project Management. To get more information go to
http://healthlinks.washington.edu/nwcphp/niphp/ .
According to Chuck Treser, staff have applied for 35 hours of CME, CNE,
CHES and CEU credits.
I've participated in the Institute as a student and the courses are really
good. The GIS course would be of interest to anyone needing such training
(I took it for fun) as I did the Epi course. I have not participated in
the project management class but the instructor is good and the topic a
really valuable one given how many of us manage projects.
