INCAP, the Instituto de Nutricion de Centro America y Panama is a really good organization located in Guatemala City which deals with issues of health, food and nutrition. They have researchers, scientists, economists, epidemiologists, dietitians and more there who could probably help you should you be in Guatemala city. They also publish quite a bit, in Spanish and English.

You do not specify which socioeconomic status you are wishing to find more information about. Children in rural areas of Guatemala differ immensely from children in urban areas and children of lower SES differ quite a bit from children of upper SES. The difference between the have and have nots is more than you can ever imagine in this country and others like it. If you are looking for national statistics you might find something through INCAP, unfortunately other than doing a web search I do not have a phone number or anything like that, other than a postal address as I worked there for a semester back in 1992.
If you need additional information, please email me directly as to not clog the "lines'
Good luck and let me know how you fare.
Julia

I am seeking resources for information on nutrition and health risks in
preschool and schoolage children in Guatemala. I'd appreciate any assistance
pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Jackie McLaughlin
