Institute's Executive Director position.

The National Food Service Management Institute seeks an experienced and
visionary leader for the position of Executive Director. The Institute,
established by Congress in 1989 and reauthorized in 1994, operates under a
grant agreement with the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), USDA. The
mission of the Institute is to provide information and services that
promote the continuous improvement of Child Nutrition Programs. The
Institute, located on the campus of The University of Mississippi in
Oxford, operates an applied research division in cooperation with the
University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. The Executive Director
reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs
at The University of Mississippi.

The Executive Director will assume responsibility for the advancement of
the Institute; direct the divisions of education, applied research, and
administration; create an atmosphere that enhances teamwork and the
development of innovative programs; revise and implement the strategic plan
of operations to reflect trends and needs of Child Nutrition Programs;
maintain and promote effective partnerships with stakeholders; continue
liaison with the USDA/FNS and the American School Food Service Association;
chair the NFSMI's National Advisory Council; foster relationships with
affiliated academic institutions; submit programmatic reports; and
administer the budget.

Required qualifications include a demonstrated expertise in Child Nutrition
Programs, a degree in Food Service Management/Institution Management, and a
doctorate in one of the following areas: Food Service
Management/Institution Management, Foods and Nutrition, Education, or a
related area.

The Executive Director must demonstrate excellent communication, leadership
and interpersonal skills and must provide evidence of success in each of
the following areas: work with federal/state regulations and agencies,
administrative experience, professional staff leadership, grant funding and
management, and recognition within the profession.

Starting date is negotiable but must not be later than July 1, 2003. Review
of applications will begin November 1 and will continue until the position
is filled or an adequate applicant pool is established.
