Friends:
I am once again asking for your help in identifying mentors for
librarian colleagues at the APHA Annual Meeting. I need your help
identifying two public health practitioners who would be willing to meet
with, talk to, attend a couple of scientific sessions with, and
generally exchange information and network with two of our Sewell Fund
Recipients (one mentor to one librarian).
If you have the inclination to help librarians learn more about what you
do so that they can train students and colleagues and be better at
providing information to you and your colleagues, please contact me
directly at larsson at u.washington.edu and volunteer.
Librarians are great people to know. They hardly ever forget what your
interests are. You'll likely be getting infogoodies for years afterwards
once they know what your interests are. The benefit to the librarians is
a better understanding of what the information needs of public health
practitioners are. They gain that information from interactions with you
and other public health experts and from the sessions they attend.
Don't forget about the APHA Film Festival if you are coming to APHA. If
you get totally brain-burned and want to see some terrific (but
gripping) films and documentaries, come to the Tech Theater. Sessions
are located at this URL:
http://apha.confex.com/apha/133am/techprogram/program_523.htm
The films are listed in the afternoon and evening sessions - and they
are *gooooood*! They've been evaluated by a team of folks heavily
involved in creating, directing and producing public health films and by
experts in the field.
If you want to meet the face behind all the emails, I will be spending
all my time in the Film & Tech Theater, Room 201C Philadelphia
Convention Center. See you there.
