When you get to where you're going, let us know.  I'm sure there are lots
of us, myself included, who could make donations for you to rebuild your
library
We got an e mail from ADA president last night - they can do loans for
members in need

ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHERE WE COULD SEND MONEY NOW?  If you or anyone
knows of organizations that are reaching the people, please share with the
list.

ask for any resources that you can offer in helping me rebuild my life.

The good news is that I do have a home with a roof; but with the anarchy, I
have no clue if there is anything left in it. I have a place to stay for as
long as I need it with family who is all safe and healthy and well.  We
plan on staying close to New Orleans right now so that we can get in and
start cleaning up and doing what is needed to sell our house and never ever
go back again. I don’t know how many of you have stayed abreast of the
situation (our local station 870am is the best source of info if you can
get it. I know you can listen online, but I don’t know the link), but it is
really bad there. I want to get out of the city and never go back. My
husband and I are hoping to move to the northwest region (preferably
Portland, or), but are open to other areas.

I may have lost everything in my office, all of my nutrition books, all of
my food models, all of my handouts, etc.  I have been in contact with the
LEAP RD’s and have gotten through them a subscription to dietetic jobs.com.
Any resources that you all can suggest are greatly appreciated.

I just want to let you all know from the New Orleans perspective what is
really going on because the media and the current administration have a
great gift at twisting things.

We have been promised help by the current admin, but as of my bedtime last
night, we had received nothing.  When I went to bed last night, fema and
Red Cross said that they would not go in. we were promised up to 40, 000
troops to help control the situation, but we haven’t gotten them. I know it
isn’t safe for workers, but how can these people stand around and let
thousands of people die. Our mayor was crying and pleading for help. He has
stayed without water, food, or sleep without aid. Actions speak louder than
words*the words have said one thing and the actions another. (Condelesa
rice was out shopping for a $1000 pair of shoes Tuesday. A woman confronted
her (non violently) and she had the woman removed from the premises). They
dropped aid into Afghanistan, why can’t they at least do that for us? How
come we can get into Iraq so fast, but we can’t get into our won country?
New Orleans is now a third word country. Disease, anarchy, poverty, no
food, no water. Life as I knew it will never ever be the same.

It hurts me so badly to learn all that I do everyday about the situation
and I think the rest of the country needs to hear it.  Really-- The city is
flooded with waters full of human waste and dead bodies. It is normally a
breeding ground for mosquitoes. Can you imagine the fear of getting a
mosquito bite now? Anyone who goes there puts his/her life in jeopardy not
only because of the looters/ gang roaming with guns and shooting at anyone
they see, but also because of the disease. Why has our government abandoned
us? Why has it been allowed to escalate to this level? Why were our pleas
ignored this long?

Additionally, I would advice all of you who donate in hopes of helping to
hold out on donations to red cross and fema until they actually begin to
help us. They are not helping us. Your donations through them are not going
to benefits the people of NOLA until they come into the city to help.
