The Department of Nutrition and Food Science invites applications for up

expertise in the following areas will be given preference, but qualified
individuals in related areas also will be considered:
Developmental Nutrition: Preference will be given to individuals with
research programs focused on understanding nutritional factors affecting
the aging process and human health throughout the lifecycle, especially
those with a specific interest in the role of maternal or neonatal
nutrition and consequences of "metabolic imprinting" throughout the
lifespan. Educational requirements include a PhD in nutrition or related
field..
Nutrition Energetics: Preference will be given to individuals with
research programs focused on understanding causes of obesity and/or
strategies to maintain healthy body weight using contemporary
technologies which can be focused at a community, whole-body, organ or

to participate in multidisciplinary research programs focused on obesity
prevention and maintaining healthy body weights. Educational
requirements include a PhD in nutrition or related field.
Molecular Microbiology and Gastrointestinal Health: Preference will be
given to individuals with research programs focused on investigating the
role of gut flora in health and disease using genetic tools to
understand the role of microbial diversity and mechanisms whereby
individual ingredients and whole diets are handled by gut microflora so
that individual disorders can be better managed (prophylactic or
curative) by probiotics, prebiotics, or synbiotics. Educational
requirements include a PhD in food science,
nutrition, microbiology, gastroenterology or related field.
Metabolomics: Preference will be given to individuals interested in
identifying metabolites or bioactive compounds that could add value to
food, e.g. by giving potential health benefits, or the development of
'fingerprint' technologies to trace agricultural products (plant,
microbial, or mammalian sources) from the 'farm to the plate' to ensure
a safe, unadulterated food supply. Educational requirements include a PhD in
food science, nutrition, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
General Duties and Responsibilities: The 12 month, tenure-track
positions at the Assistant Professor level (9 to 12 month appointments
as Associate Professor may be considered) are funded 100% from Texas A&M

Preference will be given to individuals who desire to participate in
multidisciplinary research programs.

Administrative Relationship: Each position is a 100% appointment within
the Department of Nutrition and Food Science in the College of

of Nutrition and Food Science, and will be located on College Station
campus. The individual is expected to be sufficiently credentialed for
full appointment to the Graduate Faculty

at Texas A&M University. This position will be expected to interface
with and to complement other efforts by faculty in animal science, food
science, plant
science, kinesiology, medicine, sociology, and/or veterinary medicine.

Qualifications: Educational requirements and postdoctoral experience,
