ASDAH Call for Program Proposals!



The Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH) will be holding its
2007 Conference July 14th to July 16th at the Crowne Plaza Chicago OHare
Hotel as the professional option of the NAAFA Annual Convention. For more
information about the convention visit the NAAFA website at www.naafa.org.
The ASDAH events will begin with registration from 10AM-12PM on July 14th
immediately followed by the opening plenary and will end at on the 16th at
12:30PM with a closing plenary. The theme of the meeting is "Promoting
Health At Every Size".


The program planning committee invites members and nonmembers to submit
program proposals for workshops that are 1 ½ hours in length. Nonmembers
will be expected to join ASDAH if their proposal is accepted for
presentation at the meeting. Proposals should be e-mailed to both Joanne
Ikeda at <mailto:jikeda at berkeley.edu>jikeda at berkeley.edu and Ellyn Herb
ellyn52 at aol.com by May 15th. Topics of particular interest include:
* Professional techniques/strategies for promoting/practicing Health At
Every Size (HAES)
* Resolving conflicts and controversies within HAES
* HAES Medical approaches (that are truly weight neutral)
* Linking the "War on Obesity" and Eating Disorders (HIGH level)
* Update on Research with practical debunking and/or utilization ideas
* Legal issues regarding HAES/Obesity (what is and what is proposed)
* Children and the "War On Obesity" including School Wellness Policies


ASDAH is an international organization composed of individuals and
organizations that promote all aspects of health and well-being for people
of all sizes while avoiding weight based assumptions and weight
discrimination. The meeting will provide information, education, and
resources to professionals who are interested in the HAES approach, or who
are considering using the HAES approach in their work.

A membership brochure is attached for those of you who would like to join
ASDAH.



ASDAH Workshop Proposal Form

Workshops at the conference will be held on Sat. and Sun.
afternoons. There will be two workshops held in each time slot (see below).
If you are submitting a proposal for CEUs (counselors, MFTs, psychologists,
etc.), please include all of the information listed below and email a copy
to both <mailto:Ellyn52 at aol.com>Ellyn52 at aol.com and
<mailto:jikeda at berkeley.edu>jikeda at berkeley.edu.

If you are not planning to offer CEUs for your workshop, please submit
your proposal including #1, #2, #3 and #6 below and submit as noted above.

1 = most desired, 4 = least desired. Please note - preferred times may not
be available as the conference planning committee will make the final
decisions.
