We have recently posted a vacancy announcement to fill behind Patricia
(Pat) McKinney, M.S., R.D. Pat will be retiring from the USDA Food and
Nutrition Service, Office of Research, Nutrition and Analysis (FNS/ORNA)
on December 31, 2007. She has served our nation with distinction,
including service as the government project officer for the School
Nutrition Dietary Assessment Studies, the study of Food Stamp
Participants Food Security and Nutrient Availability, the WIC Infant
Feeding Practices Study and the Breastfeeding Intervention Design Study,
and the FNS liaison to NHANES and the National Nutrition Monitoring
System.



This vacancy announcement closes on January 2, 2008. The position
description indicates that this position serves as a Social Science
Research Analyst for the Office of Research, Nutrition and Analysis in
the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). The incumbent is responsible for
conducting statistical analyses, directly or via contracted entities,
interpreting data, which leads to the development of agency policy,
programmatic, and legislative initiatives. There are specific questions
in the application process that provide higher scores to potential
candidates with experience related to analyzing and interpreting food
consumption surveys or nutrition-related surveys reflecting the desire
to recruit applicants not only with strong analytic and social science
research skills, but also who have a strong background in nutrition.
