Call for Assistance - 2nd send (fwd)

Friends:

Apologies for sending you uuencoded text. I didn't notice it when I
forwarded the previous message. The author, when notified of the problem,
resent the email, this time using straight text. So, here it is.

<titanium>
UUENCODING makes it possible to send Word documents through email and
works well if you know how to uudecode them. Unfortunately this is the
archane way to get Word documents. With the Mime capability, we can send
Word documents as Word documents. Not everyone's system supports Mime. The
upshot is: don't send attachments. Cut and paste text into your email
message. Much less work for everyone.

Subject: Call for Assistance - 2nd send

Hi, folks: I'm sending this again, because Laura Larsson (alerted me to the
fact that "most people cannot cope with UUENCODED documents." I don't know what
that means exactly, except that the end result is that attachments become
gobbledly-gook. So . . . in case that is what you received, my note and the
call for papers that was attached are copied below. Thanks, Laura! :-)

The Health Care Financing Review, published by the Health Care Financing
Administration (HCFA) will have an issue dedicated to women's health. This is
an issue that is just becoming a focus for HCFA and HCFA's Women's Health
Workgroup worked very hard to get this issue on the schedule. I serve on the
Workgroup, representing HCFA's Western Regional Consortium; we are looking
forward to an informative and exciting publication.

Please share the attached call for papers for the Women's Health Issue with your
colleagues. The deadline for submitting papers is June 19, 2000. HCFReview is
distributed across the nation internally to all of HCFA's regional offices and
to health services and health policy researchers at universities, foundations,
etc.

Also, we will need pople to serve as peer reviewers. If you know someone who
can (and would be willing to) provide a critical review of research papers,
please send me his/her name and number so that I can forward this information to
the editor. I realize that some peer review might need to be topic specific,
but a general request for volunteers is as specific as we can be right now.

Thanks for your attention to this request for assistance. Feel free to share
the call for papers widely. I think it is an opportunity to continue to get
information out about women's health issues and to continue increasing HCFA's
internal awareness about and attention to this topic.

Louise

PS:
Laura Larsson: for listing on PNWSOPHE, please. Thanks.
/Margo Harris: could you get this to National SOPHE, please? Thanks.
Marian Mehegan: could you forward this to your peers in the other regions,
please, as well as to all your contacts in RO X? Thanks.

					Call for Papers

We are pleased to announce the following forthcoming issues of the Health Care
Financing Review for publishing year 2000. These issues will focus on important
topics in health care financing and bring together a broad range of viewpoints
to illuminate various perspectives and interpretations of new research and
current trends.

SUMMER 2000 CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
This issue will be dedicated to commissioned papers presented at the conference
held on October 15, 1999, entitled ?Eliminating Racial, Ethic, and SES
Disparities in Health Care: A Research Agency for the
New Millinnium? that was sponsored by the Health Care Financning Administration,
the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, and the Henry J. Kaiser
Foundation.

FALL 2000 MEDICAID REFORM
The decade of the 1990s has seen considerable change and experimentation in the
Medicaid program. The most profound changes have occurred in States with 1115
demonstration waivers, but even States without these waivers have made
significant changes to their Medicaid programs. We seek papers that emphasize
the measure of success of recent Medicaid changes and that draw conclusions that
will guide policymakers into the future.
FINAL SUBMISSION DATE: 3/27/00

WINTER 2000 WOMEN?S HEALTH
Cuting edge research on health issues for women across the life-span will be the
focus of this issue. We will seek papers that address health concerns affecting
young girls, adolescents, and adult women. As we approach the millennium,
identifying and making an impact on diseases, conditions, program and policy
issues, access to quality health care services, and improving health outcomes
for women are a major concern. Of particular interest, are papers that address
these concerns for women who are Medicaid
and Medicare beneficieares.
FINAL SUBMISSION DATE: 6/19/00
