This position is affiliated with the NIDA National Drug Abuse Treatment
Clinical Trials Network (CTN). The goal of the CTN is to evaluate the
effectiveness of interventions for drug abuse in community-based treatment
programs.
The Research Scientist will serve as a national Project Director by
coordinating activities in the development, implementation, and management
of a protocol, to be conducted across multiple sites nationally. The
Washington Node of the NIDA CTN is the Lead Node in this multisite trial.

The protocol is designed to train male drug abusers in safe sex skills as
a means of reducing HIV risk among this high-risk group. This protocol
will be conducted in community-based drug treatment programs in at least
three regional research centers across the country, one of which will be
in the Seattle area.
Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, or a
related behavioral science degree with 3 years of prior experience in
substance abuse and/or HIV/AIDS research is required, as is prior
experience in research project management.
