  Friends:

Great news from the National Library of Medicine. Fred Soper's papers
have been added to the Profiles in Science Site located at:
http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/VV/

If you don't have time to visit the site, read about Fred's
accomplishments in the press release (link below in announcement).

It's really wonderful that Soper's work in public health is being
acknowledged in this way. The other Profiles include such scientists as
Linus Pauling <http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/MM/>, Joshua Lederberg
<http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/BB/> and Barbara McClintock
<http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/LL/>.

Hi All:

NLM has added the papers of public health expert, Fred Lowe Soper, to the Profiles in Science site (http://profiles.nlm.nih.gov/). This site celebrates twentieth-century leaders in biomedical research and public health. It makes the archival collections of prominent scientists, physicians, and others who have advanced the scientific enterprise available to the public through modern digital technology.

Fred Soper was an American epidemiologist and public health administrator who won the Lasker Award in 1946 - see http://www.nlm.nih.gov/news/press_releases/soperprofiles.html .

Cheers,

Marj

"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both."
