CMS PLANS HIPAA READINESS WORKSH0P
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will hold a one-day
Health Care Provider HIPAA (Health Insurance and Portability Act)
Readiness Workshop in Tacoma, Washington on Thursday, June 5, 2003.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Landmark
Convention Center, 47 Street Helen Avenue. The workshop is free.
However, participants are responsible for their own hotel
accommodations.
CMS recognizes the importance of increasing awareness of HIPAA's
administration simplification requirements among those impacted by the
Act. The workshop is aimed at meeting the information needs of
physicians and individual practitioners.
This workshop will focus on implementing the critical electronic
transactions and code set requirements by:
- Helping participants understand what HIPAA means to THEM
- Explaining who is covered by the regulation and who is not
- Understanding what HIPAA electronic data interchange means to the
small provider
- Phases of HIPAA Implementation
- Testing and Certification
- Providing checklists to prepare for meeting the October 16, 2003
HIPAA Electronic Transactions and Code Sets Deadline
- Delivering a special session on Security
