Hello,
I was redirected here from the Alpine discussion for some q's directly
related to PC Pine 4.64
I do not know how to use pinerc adequately and my setup of pine
on Windows 2000 Pro is giving security prompts for logins which I normally
don't experience. I have a setup of PC Pine I've used since I built my
first Windows pc. Before that I used Pine on a bbs going back to 1993.
But I've never much used or understood all the setup options.
They remain obscure to a solo user who is not an admin or student
any place.
I'm trying to get rid of screen prompts which say
HOST pop.myisp.net [INSECURE] user:myusername Enter Password
This, I might add is not the only duplicate password prompt I am getting.
Other thing is in working mail, I am no longer able to edit the inbox.
When inbox reloads, all messages return N as unread even after I have just
done an edit.
All these things work fine on my old Win98 hard disk. I have tried to
check individual settings but they don't seem to relate. Which
subheading of the Settings/Config will get rid of these nuisances?
And how should my inbox path for a pop3 account be set up?
I have used:
inbox path: {pop.myisp.net/user=myname/pop3/NOTLS}inbox
for a long time.
My thanks to Graham for pointing me over here. The Usenet newsgroup
has not been very helpful.
